Since its inception the Department ensures engagement of national as well as international faculty for wider exposure. The department has long term engagement with University of Nebraska. Initially the
faculty members were trained in ‘Civic Engagement for Higher Education’ in 2013. Later the bilateral student dialogue was facilitated by Dr. Patrick McNamara from University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and Dr. Rao Nadeem Alam from Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) for two years; using teleconference facility fortnightly. During 2018-19 faculty members from Anthropology, including Mr. Waqas Saleem and Dr. Aneela Sultana, and other departments of FSS visited UNO to enhance Pakistan-US Universities Linkage Program funded by the US state department. Selected faculty members of the department short term training to the University of Nebraska, followed by a series of training workshops by the UNO Faculty in Pakistan.
In the recent past, Ms. Irene Bregenzer from University of Vienna, a certified expert in academic and scientific writing, had taught in the Department as HEC’s Visiting Foreign Faculty. Dr. Kanvee Viwatpanich, a medical anthropologist from Thammasat University, Thailand visited the department for a short stay and imparted knowledge through a series of trainings and workshops at the department, the trainings and workshops were facilitated by Dr. Saadia Abid. A group of documentary experts from Thammasat University were facilitated by the department to document the life of Buddha, the team was facilitated by Dr. Rao Nadeem Alam.
The department has conducted and hosted international conferences on various themes including Migration, Charity, Disaster Management, Population, Education and Health. It has MoUs signed with International development organizations like Oxfam, UNDP, USAID, Plan International, Hans Seidel Foundation (HSF), DAAD (German Scholarship Program) , US Education Foundation (USEF) and several leading national development organizations like FAFEN ( Free and Fair Elections), CPDI ( Center for Peace and Development Initiatives ), TDEA ( Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability) , National Rural Support Program (NRSP), IRM (Institute of Rural Management), GIZ (German Aid Agency).
